Selena Gomez has returned to Instagram following a four month break after suffering an emotional breakdown. The singer entered a treatment facility last year after experiencing severe anxiety and depression. Her health began to deteriorate following her kidney transplant due to her struggle with Lupus in 2017. Gomez checked into the LA facility in October, announcing that she was going to take a break from social media to "live my life to the present moment I have been given." Gomez returned to Instagram this week to wish her fans a Happy New Year and to give them a little update into her current health situation. Sharing a series of black and white photos, she wrote that she is "proud of the person I am becoming" and that she's looking forward to the year ahead. She said: "It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support." "Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming. "Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all."
