Selena Gomez speaks out after paparazzi shots of her in a bikini emerge

And that is why we love her!

Fresh from her split with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez is loving life over in Australia.

The 25-year-old mega star looked beaming as she relaxed and unwinded on a boat alongside friends, however there was one thing she wasn’t going to be able to avoid, and that was the paparazzi.

Appearing in a bikini for one of the first times since her kidney transplant which saved her life, Selena seemed to just ignore the paparazzi who were doing their level best to capture pictures of her showing her visable scars from her operation on her inner thigh.

Since these images emerged yesterday – Selena Gomez took to Instagram to basically highlight how she doesn’t give a sh*t and is now focusing on staying healthy, not conforming to any *set* beauty standards and living her best life.

She wrote: “The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone.
Wind in her sails.”

Realising that she needed a kidney transplant and was on a thin line between life and death was a serious moment of realisation for Selena, speaking to the Today show after her operation she said: “I guess I got to the point where it was really kind of life or death. It’s really hard to think about or even to swallow especially now that as soon as I got the kidney transplant, my arthritis went away, my lupus is about a 3 to 5 percent chance it’ll ever come back, my blood pressure is better, my energy, my life has been better.”

We salute her!
