I'm A Celebrity star Melanie Sykes has been accused of an ongoing campaign of domestic violence by her former husband, Jack Cockings.
The couple met on Twitter and married in August 2012. However, they separated late last year and in a new interview with The Sun On Sunday, the 28-year-old claimed he was regularly attacked by Sykes during their relationship.
He told the newspaper that the "vicious" abuse began shortly after they met but culminated in an incident where he called the police to their North London home last November.
"I was in the kitchen and she came in and went mental. she told me the whole marriage was a publicity stunt, so I started packing my things into black bin liners, but she was still trying to have a go at me with slaps," he said."I locked myself in the bedroom and rang the police because I wanted to show her that was she was doing was unacceptable. Two police officers took pictures of marks around my neck and face."
It's believed that Sykes spent the night in police custody and was given a caution for common assault.
She later had the caution withdrawn from police records and a source close to the TV presenter said it was "sad" that Cockings has spoken out about the issue while she was in the jungle and could not respond.
