The Spice Girls dropped a bombshell about Victoria Beckham last night

Ah, lads.

The Spice Girls are back together.

Were you aware of this fact? You probably were.

Emma, Mel C, Mel B, and Gerri have joined forced again to bring a bit of 90s spice back into the UK (and hopefully Ireland, please) sometime next year.

Victoria Beckham will not be joining the group because she wants to focus on her fashion line. Or something.

Last night marked the gals’ first interview as a new foursome. They appeared on the Jonathon Ross Show to chat all things spice, girls, and eh, the Spice Girls.

It was during that interview that Mel C revealed a bombshell that both shocked and stunned audiences everywhere – that Queen VB had never been asked to join the reunion.

Ah, here.

She said:

“Do you know what’s actually quite funny, I saw Victoria recently and obviously we’ve all been in contact, she’s very much part of the Spice Girls, she really supports us and we really support her.

“But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked. We just presumed.”

Grim enough scenario.

It was at that point that everybody looked fairly shocked so Emma stepped in to say that Victoria had always said she never wanted to be back in the band.

“I spoke to her before the announcement,” she said, “and she has said it for years that she just doesn’t want to do it anymore, so we knew that.”

Right, so.

Could’ve just made sure though, you know.

Ross suggested that maybe the gals should have given VB to opportunity to join the band again if she wanted to, to which Gerri responded that they had, and that Victoria had simply “moved on.”

She said:

“The philosophy for us lot is we’re a band on and off the stage. We care about each other, we support each other and we support her.

“She’s been a huge part of our lives and we care about her, so it’s all good.”

Gerri also added that Victoria didn’t particularly like the performing side of things either, so it was hardly surprising that she didn’t want to start doing it again.

“You don’t want to make somebody do something they don’t want to do,” she said.
