Beyoncé is one busy woman.
She’s currently travelling the world on her Formation tour where she’s coming to Dublin on Saturday.
Although she’s busy dancing and singing her ass off daily, Beyoncé still stays true to her roots and takes time out to support the causes she believes in, like feminism and civil rights for African-American people.
Following the tragic shootings of two innocent men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in the last two days, the singer took to her website to support the cause of Black Lives Matter.
Alton Sterling was just 37 years of age when a police officer shot him on Tuesday and Castile was also shot in the presence of his girlfriend in his car at a traffic stop on Wednesday. Both men died on impact.
The Freedom singer uploaded an urgent call on her website, motivating fans to get involved and stop police brutality.
In a post simply entitled ‘Freedom’ the 34-year-old wrote about the injustices the families of the deceased are suffering and the need for the killings of innocent people – just because of their colour – to stop.
The former Destiny’s Child star urges fans to stick together to combat the racist attitudes many US policemen hold as they continue to slaughter more innocent people.
“We’re going to stand up as a community and fight against anyone who believes that murder or any violent action by those who are sworn in to protect us should consistently go unpunished.”
“These robberies of lives make us feel helpless and hopeless but we have to believe that we are fighting for the rights of the next generation, for the next young men and women who believe in good.”
“Fear is not an excuse. Hate will not win.”
“We all have the power to channel our anger and frustration into action. We must use our voices to contact the politicians and legislators in our districts and demand social and judicial changes.”
She advises fans to contact their local politicians to finally put an end to voice protest against the deaths of the two innocent men and other people who have been killed purely because of their colour.
