Taylor Swift’s ex-Joe Alwyn is ‘distraught’ at new Matty Healy romance

He trusted they were just "friends"

Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn was left "distraught" after he heard about her new romance with 1975 frontman, Matty Healy. A source close to Joe told the Daily Mail that he "put his trust" in Taylor when she told him herself and Matty were just friends. News of the Swift-Healy relationship surfaced just weeks after the news broke that Taylor had split with long-time boyfriend Joe who she dated for six years. Although many fans speculated that there was crossover between the two relationships, a source close to Taylor was adamant that there was "absolutely no crossover". According to the Daily Mail's very reliable source, Joe Alwyn is very upset that his ex moved on so quickly. He's particularly hurt that he trusted Taylor when she started collaborating with the 1975 singer late last year. The source said: "Joe feels slighted and is distraught after seeing her budding relationship with Matt, but is doing his best to keep busy and focus on himself." Joe said he was "very happy" in his relationship..

Matty Healy helped Taylor on her Midnights album which Joe was in full support of. Matty and Taylor would also perform together or at each others shows and that was pretty normal. In January, Swift gave a surprise performance of her new track Anti-hero at a 1975 concert in London's 3Arena. The source added: "Joe was aware that Taylor and Matt were making music together and collaborating. She told him that they had become friends and he trusted her." Speaking at the CTAM media presentation about his role in Conversations with Friends in February, Joe said he was very happy in his relationship.

He said:  "I think people can do what they want and makes them happy. I’m obviously happy in a monogamous relationship.

"Because of the nature of an open relationship, it's just a lot of talking. It's just exhausting, at least for me it would be."

He played Nick Conway in the series who is in open relationship. Some fans believe that the breakup blindsided Joe because just weeks before it was leaked to the public, Joe gushed about Taylor to the press and seemed beyond happy. Over the past couple of weeks, amid all the romance rumours, Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have been spotted together. They were spotted kissing in New York, Matty travelled to Nashville for one of Taylor's gigs and Matty was even seen dancing with Taylor's dad at her concert in Philadelphia last weekend.
