“I am always surprised that people are surprised that you grieve forever.”

Stacey Solomon has detailed partner Joe Swash’s struggle following the birth of their first son together, Rex.

The singer and Loose Women presenter said that since the death of his father, Joe has found is difficult to enjoy major milestones in his life.

Speaking on the aforementioned chat show, she said that his grief became harder to deal with following the birth of Rex.

“It is a trauma and I am always surprised that people are surprised that you grieve forever,” she said.

“Joe lost his dad when he was 11 and it has had a fundamental impact on his life, especially when huge life events happen – even if they’re really positive.

“When we had Rex, it was a trauma. At the same time as being the most wonderful thing in the world.”

Stacey, who now has three children, said that much of Joe’s life has been shaped by the loss of his father.

“He never got to show his dad his son, and he’ll never get that chance and he thought about that a lot,” she said. “It really impacted, and I think still impacts, his life.”

“A lot of decisions he makes and a lot of who he is is shaped by the circumstances, for good and for bad.

“There are positives and negatives that have come out of it – even if you don’t feel like there’s anything positive.”

She added, however, that although the loss changed Joe, “it’s made him an incredible person.”

“But at the same time, it’s taken away a piece of his life that he will never get back.”

Stacey and Joe started dating in 2016 after meeting on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

They have one child together.
