One Direction is the biggest band and has gathered some of the most dedicated fans in the world.
Harry Styles’ love life has been a hot topic from the get-go and is often brought up during interviews.
The Internet went into somewhat of a frenzy after a video interview with Styles and Liam Payne was posted online on Monday.
ODE, an entertainment site, had the pair answer six questions from fans who had sent in queries about the band using the hashtag #1DFourplay on Twitter.
Reporter Lucy Jones was the host for the tongue-in-cheek segment, and it wasn't long before the old cliché question cropped up - favourite traits in a girl.
"Female, it’s a good trait”, Payne joked, which Styles replied to with a flippant, "not that important", before listing some of the more obvious answers.
The remark has resulted in Styles’ sexuality being thrown back into the spotlight.
Styles, who has been previously romantically linked with Caroline Flack, Taylor Swift, Cara Delevigne and Kendall Jenner, is no stranger to headlines surrounding the subject.
In an interview with GQ last year he addressed speculation over his friendship with BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw, stating that the pair were "only friends".
"Bisexual? Me? I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I’m not”.
Recently Styles showed support to Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player, by wearing his jersey on stage at St. Louis concert.
