“We’re Gutted” – One Direction Speak Out About Zayn Malik’s Departure

Zayn Malik has had his say. The fans have had their say. And now the remaining members of One Direction have had their say. The band has reportedly spoken out about Zayn’s recent departure during their first interview as a four-piece. Liam Payne told The Sun newspaper: “It’s been a tough few weeks, probably the toughest since the band was formed five years ago. “We’re gutted Zayn chose to leave. But now, after a few performances as a four-piece, we feel confident and determined to carry on stronger than ever.” The band were in the middle of their tour when Zayn quit. Louis Tomlinson also took the opportunity to shoot down speculation that this is the end for the group. The 23-year-old, who was tipped to be the next to leave, insisted: “All four of us are 100 per cent committed to staying in One Direction.” In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last two weeks, Zayn announced that he was leaving 1D in order to become a “normal 22-year-old” and be out of the spotlight.
