Taylor Schilling may be incredible as the drug-smuggling upper-middle class Piper Chapman in Orange Is The New Black, but apparently the role wasn’t hers for the taking.
According to E! Online, show creator Jenji Kohan, Katie Holmes was the original choice for the Netflix drama, but was too busy to sign on for the project.
Speaking at an Orange Is The New Black panel discussion held in LA on Monday, Kohan told E! Online:
'[Katie] had other things to do. And also in the beginning, no one knew what this was.'
It seems Taylor is threatened by the news either, suggesting Katie could do a guest spot, even suggesting a character story:
[Katie] could be friends with Lorna or like Lorna's Boston sister,"
Katie has since admitted she’s a big fan of the show, and would love to do a guest spot.
So we might just see Katie in an orange jumpsuit, or maybe visiting an inmate?
We’ll keep an eye out in Season 3 just in case.
