Singer CeeLo Green has deleted his Twitter account after sending out a series of questionable messages sharing his views on rape.
The comments came after the former coach from The Voice pleaded no contest on Friday to one felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a woman.
The singer took to the social media platform, where he had attracted 2 million followers, to say: “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!”
A separate tweet read: “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent.”
The F*ck You singer deleted his account entirely after claiming his words were taken out of context, but not before they had been screen-grabbed and shared widely.
Prosecutors in Ceelo’s case claimed that a lack of evidence led to no rape charges being filed. He was sentenced to three years of probation plus 45 days of community service.
