We say a little prayer this will be as good as the movie.
It’s always a risky business when a classic movie attempts to make that transition to the small screen.
However, it seems the team behind the romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding are pretty confident that a TV sequel will work.
The 1997 box office hit starred Julia Roberts as the lovelorn Julianne Potter, who attempts to win the heart of her best friend Michael (Dermot Mulroney) before he weds.
The TV show will document the years that followed, focusing on Julianne’s life in New York with her friend George (Rupert Everett’s character).
ABC announced this week that original writer Ron Bass is set to script the show alongside Jessica Amento, with producers Jerry and Janet Zucker and Mike Menchel all on board.
There is no confirmed debut date, but we feel a celebratory boogie is in order.
