The Neighbours cast and crew is celebrating the show’s 30th anniversary next month but it seems the drama is going to continue throughout the rest of the year.

Producer Jason Herbison has revealed that while they have lots planned for the coming weeks, this year as a whole is going to be a great one for the soap.

Susan and Karl Kennedy are long-running characters.

He told The Perfect Blend that the upcoming festival, for which the Ramsay Street residents are currently preparing, will ensure that all viewers enjoy the anniversary.

“We actually planned the storylines a year in advance and pitched them to our broadcasters, who gave great ideas and feedback.

“As the UK is two weeks behind Australia, we needed a story that would contain peaks a fortnight apart. We can up with the idea of the festival… with big, noisy events at either side.”

Delta Goodrem is returning as Nina Tucker.

He added: “It’s going to be a huge year, kicking off with the 30th events. We’ve got a wedding, a funeral, a surprise pregnancy… We’ll also be bringing in a new regular character who will have quite a big impact on the street.”

A number of familiar faces are returning to Erinsborough for the special occasion in March including Ian Smith (Harold Bishop) and Delta Goodrem (Nina Tucker).
