After last year's show, Love Island's producers decided to ban contestants from smoking on screen.

However, this year's batch are seemingly still have the odd sneaky cigarette... albeit with major restrictions in place (aside: Kendall Rae Knight has revealed since leaving the island that Eval Booker smoked the most). https://twitter.com/Laurenb18xx/status/1007557200267669504 Speaking to OK! Online, a spokesperson for the series confirmed that there is no smoking "within the Love Island villa or villa garden". https://twitter.com/cathalisbored/status/1018118406527225856 However, the spokesperson went on to state:

"Producers have provided a designated smoking area outside the villa, much as you would see at a workplace."

There is a twist too - they added: "Islanders will only be able to use the smoking area alone which will limit conversations." https://twitter.com/courtsbull/status/1018586326503972865 The spokesperson furthermore revealed: "The area will be filmed with a camera so this could be broadcast, but the fact that the area will only be used by one person at a time will obviously limit the amount of conversation/action or activity that takes place and therefore subsequently broadcast." So all-in-all, a very good decision in our books.
