The death of Skilyr Hicks, who was a contestant on the talent show America’s Got Talent, has been announced.

She was 23-years-old.

According to TMZ, her mother Jodi confirmed that her daughter passed away on Monday. Her body was found at a property in Liberty, North Carolina.

Skilyr’s mum said that she was much loved by her four siblings and that she will “live on through her music”.

The singer appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2013 when she was just 14. She performed an original song and wowed judges Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howard Stern and Howie Mandel.

At her audition, she explained that she began playing music following the death of her father. Accompanying herself on guitar, Skilyr sang a country music inspired song and impressed the live audience as well as the judges.

Afterwards, Heidi Klum described her as a “beautiful girl” and said that she “won” all of their hearts.

Mel B praised her voice and tone, and said that it was “way more mature” than her age.

“It made me go into a whole different zone,” she said.

Howie Mandel, meanwhile, said that he imagines her father is watching her and is “glowing with pride”. She then went on to receive four resounding yes votes from the judges.

At the next stage of the competition, she performed another original song titled A Second Chance.
