Angela Lansbury has said that she thinks women should sometimes “take blame” for sexual harassment.

The Murder, She Wrote actress also said that over the years, women “… have gone out of their way to make themselves attractive” and that we have to “own up” to this fact.

Lansbury made the controversial comments to Radio Times magazine.

She said:

“We have to own up to the fact women, since time immemorial, have gone out of their way to make themselves attractive.

“And unfortunately it has backfired on us, and this is where we are today. We must sometimes take blame.

“Although it’s awful to say we can’t make ourselves look as attractive as possible without being knocked down and raped.”

Lansbury’s comments come some weeks after multiple sexual assault and harassment allegations began surfacing around Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and other key Hollywood players.

The 92-year-old went on to say that she hopes the allegations will “stop” future incidents from occurring.

“Should women be prepared for this? No, they shouldn’t have to be. There’s no excuse for that.

“I think it will stop now, it will have to.”

Disgraced producer Weinstein is currently being sued for alleged sex trafficking in France.

The movie mogul has been accused of luring an aspiring actress to his hotel room in Cannes and grooming her.
