Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the new favourite

The race to find a new James Bond is heating up following Daniel Craig’s exit from the coveted role and a well-known heartthrob has been thrown into the mix.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the new favourite to play the most famous secret agent as the franchise continues on.

His odds of taking over the iconic role over from Daniel Craig were slashed to 2/1 over the weekend – and fans are delighted.

Aaron arrived on our screens back in 2008 as Robbie in the teen romcom Angus Thongs & Perfect Snogging.

His career skyrockets after this, and he went on play leading roles in Kick Ass and Nowhere Boy – and most recently starred in Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt.

A source close to film bosses told The Sun that the 32-year-old went for a screen test for Bond back in September.

They said producers, including the famous Barbara Brocolli, “loved him” and since then he has become the bookies’ favourite to become the next Bond.

Other big names who are in the running for the top role are James Norton and Tom Hardy.

Despite the rumours heating up, when he was asked about playing the next James Bond, Aaron managed to redirect the conversation – a little too well.

He told Vanity Fair that he was flattered by the prospect of becoming 007 but said he just wanted to “stay grounded, stay around the people that you love and love you back, and stay in that world”.
