A Beauty and the Beast prequel starring Rita Ora is coming to Disney+

The actress has called it her “dream role”.

A Beauty and the Beast prequel is on its way to Disney+ and Rita Ora has just bagged herself a role.

The show is a spin-off of the 2017 Beauty and the Beast remake and is said to be an “action-packed romance, comedy and adventure”. It will take place years before the villainous Gaston sets his sights on Belle.

Luke Evans and Frozen’s Josh Gad, who both starred in the remake alongside Emma Watson, will return in their roles of Gaston and LeFou.

Meanwhile, Rita will play “a fugitive with surprising abilities who carries with her a secret that could potentially affect an entire kingdom”.

Not much is known about the plot of the show except that it follows Gaston and LeFou on an adventure with with LeFou’s stepsister, Tilly, after finding out a surprising secret from her past.

The series doesn’t have an official title yet but the pop star couldn’t be more excited.

“I can’t keep the secret any longer! I’m beyond excited to be be joining the cast of the Beauty and the Beast prequel series,” she announced on Instagram.

“As a child, I remember watching Beauty and the Beast with my family over and over and immediately falling in love with the music and characters.

“Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined joining this fairytale world. To everyone that helped make this happen, I am forever grateful.

“Lately I just feel like all my dreams are coming true! Life is feeling like a Disney movie!”

While Rita is best known for his string of hit songs, she’s no stranger to the acting world. The 31-year-old previously played the role of Christian Grey’s sister Mia in the 50 Shades of Grey film franchise.
