Benedict Cumberbatch is to play The Grinch in a new movie

We all remember the 2000 live-action film How The Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey.

Well, now there will be a new animated incarnation of the film produced by Illumination Pictures starring British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

The news that the Sherlock star would be voicing the much-loved Dr. Seuss character came at a Cinema-Con panel on Wednesday, according to Digital Spy.

The film's production company are also behind Minions, so expect a lot of merchandise. The film will be released just before Christmas in 2017.
