YES! Bodyguard writers are officially ‘in talks’ about season two

Jade Hayden

Ah, yeah.

Bodyguard was great.

Like, really great. Like, it would have been great if it had’ve just been Richard Madden running around in a suit for six episodes but it also had a class suspense-filled narrative and the dialogue was bangin’ so fair play.

Since Bodyguard dropped onto Netflix, people have been asking the inevitable – is there a second season coming and when will it be?

And although we don’t have a definite answer to any of the above questions, we do have a suggestion that season two will be a thing, at some point, maybe.

Because Bodyguard creator and writer Jed Mercurio is now “in talks” about a followup season – and that’s all he can say about that.

It’s enough, we guess.

“We’re in talks,” he said at the Banff World Media Festival in Canada. “We’re going through the logistics of it. There’s no real update now.”

Cheers, yeah.

This comes after Richard Madden himself said that he’d be well up for doing a second season of the show given its popularity.

However, he did say that it would have to take place a few years down the line because it wouldn’t be realistic for David Budd to jump back into work so soon.

“We’ve been talking about it and I spoke to Jed about a month after the show had finished airing over in the UK and we sat and decided let’s give it at least a year while we work out how to do something better,” he told a Netflix event earlier this year.

“A couple of things. A, you cannot jump into it. David Budd definitely needs a vacation after that. He’s not going to go back to work, is he?

“And also he’s the most famous man in London because of what happens at the end of episode six. He couldn’t just go straight back into work.”

Very fair.

Lots to look forward to, we guess.
