Ah, god.

It's been a fair amount of time since Chesney was the little ginger haired lad running about Weatherfield causing mischief. In what seems like a considerably short space of time, the lad has grown from a boy to man, breaking hearts, frying chips, and doing loads of other things that Chesney has been wont to do. And as of next week, another one of those things will be getting Gemma pregnant right before dumping her. Shame. Over upcoming episodes, Chesney will end things with the kebab shop worker due to her drinking problem. She is, understandably, devastated even though the pair had been moving in a dodgy enough direction with Gemma cancelling plans and Chesney giving out about her to Tyrone. Things only go from bad to worse afterwards when Gemma discovers that she's pregnant with Chesney's baby - partly because they're in a bad place but also because having a child means she'll need to stop drinking, probably. Rita tells Gemma that she needs to inform Chesney that he's going to be a dad again, but Gemma refuses and instead moves the rest of her things out of the house. Chesney starts to notice that Gemma doesn't look her best but she fobs him off and says that nothing's wrong, later telling her doctor that even though the pregnancy wasn't planned, she does still want to keep the baby. It remains to be seen whether Chesney will be delighted with the baby news or not, but realistically he's going to hear about it, he'll take Gemma back, and all will be well. Probably.
