Chris Evans and wife welcome twins… and you won’t believe their names

For real?

BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans and his wife Natasha Shishmanian have welcomed twins.

Chris’ team announced the news on his radio show this morning, revealing that the couple had welcomed a baby boy and a baby girl the night before.

However, his most surprising announcement came when he revealed the names he and his wife had chosen.

“Ping and Pong arrived safe and well last night,” read Chris’ statement.

“Both healthy, both strong, happy and blessed, as was mum throughout.”

Some reports suggest that Ping and Pong are “affectionate nicknames” that were given to the twins during pregnancy but that hasn’t stopped followers from sharing their surprise at the unusual choice.

“Ping popped her head out at 22:10, Pong popped his head out 12 minutes later at 22 minutes past 10,” Chris added in his statement read out by Sara Cox on air.

“Infinite thanks to the amazing team at Frimley Park Hospital, amazing people, amazing professionals, helping dreams come true. Thank you!”

Chris and Natasha were married in 2007 and are also parents to nine-year-old Noah and six-year-old Eli, with Chris having another daughter Jade from a previous relationship.
