'Clueless' is getting remade and all of our 90s dreams have just come true

As if.

It’s a pretty popular consensus that the 90s were one of the best decades ever. It was a time of simple pleasures – TY Beanie Babies, gel pens, butterfly clips and so on.

Entertainment was at a pinnacle with the advent of inventions like the Game Boy and BopIt and television shows were just GOLDEN with programmes like Kenan & Kel, Hey Arnold and Sabrina hitting our screens.

The decade has already come back into the fashion industry and now we’re buzzing that some of our favourite films are getting a remake. Disney has announced the re-creation of animated films like The Lion King and Aladdin and now we’re totally buggin’ because Clueless is set to be remade!

Yes, Deadline has reported that the flick is set for a refresh by Paramount.

Girls Trip writer, Tracy Oliver will produce the new film with Glow writer, Marquita Robinson, tackling the iconic script.

Details of the remake are sparse as the project is in its nascent stages, but we’re SO excited.

The original 1995 movie helped to launch the career of many young actors including Paul Rudd, Alicia Silverstone and the late Brittany Murphy.

Clueless is a modern take on Jane Austen’s Emma and centres on popular Beverly Hills high school student, Cher who fancies herself as a bit of a matchmaker and after some initial success, gives new student Tai a makeover. When Tai ultimately becomes more popular than her, Cher is forced to re-asses her value systems.

The news has divided people on Twitter, however, with some fearing it might taint the cult classic:

In any case, we’re curious about who will take on the iconic roles of Cher, Tai and Amber. Kim, Kourtney and Khloe maybe?! Couldn’t you just see the dollar signs light up in Kris Jenner’s eyes!
