Corrie viewers noticed a LOT of Costa Coffee on last night’s show

Were you watching Coronation Street last night?

If so, you may have noticed that multiple Costa Coffee cups featured in the episode and people want to know what exactly is going on. As there's never been a branch of the coffee chain in Weatherfield before, to our knowledge anyway, it's taken people by surprise that so many characters are sporting Costa cups.

It's not just a once off either, this happened a couple of times over the last few weeks as some eagle-eyed viewers have noticed. This has led people to ask whether the soap has a new sponsorship deal with the company and they really want to get the bottom of the mystery.

People just want to know what is going on and WHERE IS THE COSTA SHOP? There are reports that the Manchester-based soap is going to introduce a Costa and Co-Op branch as part of a new and revamped set but this hasn't yet been confirmed. That would make sense and explain the sudden appearance of multiple distinctive Costa cups but we'll just have to wait and see. Update: 11:28 am Corrie bosses have just confirmed that there will be two new shop fronts, Costa Coffee and a Co-Op when the new set is introduced later this year. These will be shop fronts only so viewers won't see inside but you will see further branding, like the coffee cups that have been spotted already. Mark Trinder, ITV Sales Director commented:

"Incorporating product placement on this scale is something we have wanted to do for some time, and we’re delighted with this exciting opportunity. We’ve worked really closely with the Coronation Street team to make sure we’ve got a great brand fit for Co-op and Costa Coffee with the nation’s favourite soap, while still ensuring editorial integrity".
