Now I’ve…

It’s happening, guys. It’s official. Well, sort of.

A new dancing movie is in the works, it’s starring Jennifer Grey, and there’s rumours abound that it could indeed be a Dirty Dancing sequel.

Incredible scenes all round, if true.

According to Variety, the new movie is currently in the works with Lionsgate. It’s an untitled dance movie starring and executively produced by Grey, meaning chances are that it could very well end up being the sequel we’ve been gasping for.

We don’t know a whole lot about the upcoming project just yet, other than it’s set in the 1990s, which would entirely make sense for reprising Grey’s role as Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman.

Fans of the film (and pretty much everybody in the world, really) will know that the original Dirty Dancing detailed the relationship of Baby and Patrick Swayze’s character Johnny Castle.

Baby and Johnny meet while Baby’s parents are holidaying at a seemingly conservative resort. A dance instructor and all round sound lad, Johnny takes Baby under his wing and over his towering torso as he succeeds in lifting her entire form over his head while dancing to ‘(I’ve Had The) Time Of My Life.’

It’s an iconic scene, and no sequel could ever recreate it, but listen, we’ll take what we can get.

A prequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, was released back in 2004. It was, unsurprisingly, not amazing but we have higher hopes for this alleged sequel.

C’mon, it’s got actual Jennifer Grey on board.

It’s gotta be good.
