They were not impressed.
EastEnders fans took to Twitter to air their frustrations this weekend after the portrayal of social workers on the soap left them less than impressed.
On Friday night, Carmel realised that her decision to report Stacey to social services was wrong as the bruises on baby’s Arthur’s arm had not been caused by the mum at all.
However, Carmel discovered her mistake too late.
The grandmother was forced to watch as a social worker and two police officers showed up during a family dinner to take Stacey’s children away.
A dramatic and shocking moment for the soap, sure.
Yet, not accurate at all, really.
Fans of the soap were quick to point out that social workers would never respond to an anonymous call by showing up to the accused’s home and taking their children.
Especially not so soon after the call was made.

Some users even suggested that the BBC soap was giving social workers a bad name by portraying them on screen in such a way.
No wonder everyone hates social workers when even soaps portray their job unrealistically. Ridiculous #EastEnders

The BBC has yet to comment on the apparent misrepresentation.
