Ed O’Neill had to apologise over an awkward photo with Britney Spears

Modern Family star Ed O'Neill had to apologise to Britney Spears over a photo taken of them. The reason was because at the time he didn't have a clue who she was. Most people would be freaking out to get a picture with the singer but not Ed, he was none the wiser.

He was speaking to Ellen De Generes recently when he explained that he didn't recognise the singer and had to ring her manager to apologise after he found out who she was. He told Ellen:

"She came up and said, 'Oh Mr. O'Neill I love 'Modern Family.' You're my favourite on the show."

"The next day my manager texts me ‘what is this? 53,000 likes. It’s Britney Spears!’… ‘No, I didn’t know it was her!’ I mean, look at the look on my face. Do I look like I'm sitting with Britney Spears?"

"So I did call her manager. I got the manager's number, I said you know my daughter Sofia she said, 'you are a moron.' So I had to tell my little story. I'm sorry. So I apologised."
