Emmerdale star says things ‘get crazy’ in the aftermath of Maya being exposed

Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has said things get "a bit crazy" as she teased the aftermath of Maya Stepney being exposed. In scenes set to air next week, the schoolteacher, who has been grooming Jacob Gallagher for months, will be exposed after she and Jacob are spotted together by another villager. The special week of episodes sees Maya head out with a number of the other villagers - including her boyfriend and Jacob's father, David -  for a night on the tiles, before a fire alarm breaks up the party. It's not totally clear who will be catching Maya and Jacob, but word around the village travels pretty fast. And Amy, who plays Tracy Metcalfe on the soap, has now revealed how her character will react after the horrifying reveal. She explained to the Mirror:

"Maya is caught with Jacob by one of the girls and news travels fast. Initially, they don't believe as a group what's been seen is the truth – not that one of us is lying, but that there must be some explanation. "As soon as they realise what's happening, they want to get Maya on her own and hear the truth. It gets a bit crazy and I can't say too much more.

"It comes as a shock for Tracy, because she considers Jacob as a stepson. She's very protective of him, she really loves him and he's been good to her in the past.

"Also, she has been completely duped as there have been several times that Maya has lied to her. Tracy has shown kindness in looking after her when she was ill, and her relationship with Billy ended because of a lie Maya told.

"So there's all of that going through her head. The sheer amount of time it's gone on for is unbelievable and quite emotional for Tracy. She's hurt, upset and baffled by it."

The actress added that she doesn't know the outcome to the story just yet. She continued:

"I hope this means the abuse will stop. I don't know the outcome to this story yet, but I hope it does."

The episodes, which begin on April 22, will see many of the characters experience life-changing events. However, according to Radio Times, Emmerdale fans won't find out the full story about what happened that night until a few weeks later.
