"There's something I need to tell you about Lucas," said the social worker. "I need to talk to you about his long term future."
Dawn, visibly shaken, is only told what can be done about the situation towards the end of the conversation. After continuing to berate the mother for a few more moments, she eventually tells her that she can appeal the decision in court."It's great that you're doing better now but we have to do what is best for Lucas. I'm very sorry Dawn, despite all our best efforts, we were unable to find you so we had to make a decision about what to do in his best interests.
"We're looking to get a placement order. We're looking to have Lucas adopted."
"I'm sorry but you didn't contact us for months and Lucas needs a stable environment," the social worker said.
"I understand this is upsetting but we didn't know if you were alive or dead. It's good that you're in a better place now but we need to do what's best for Lucas."
Viewers were not only quite upset for Dawn, but also fairly furious that a social worker was being depicted in such a way. https://twitter.com/alanactor123/status/1092508782087884800 https://twitter.com/jomartsamms7/status/1092502529726910466 https://twitter.com/missymorganmac/status/1092500755196432386 https://twitter.com/Bufferb2012/status/1092505707272962048 https://twitter.com/SARamsay1/status/1092503025883770887 https://twitter.com/HughieRyan_Bae/status/1092502166424748032 It's all kicking off.Explore more on these topics:
