Looks like Dawn might be about to lose her son.

Emmerdale viewers were fairly fuming this evening as Dawn received the equal parts harrowing and deeply upsetting news that she might need to give her son Lucas up for adoption. The recovering drug addict was visited by an incredibly cruel social worker during tonight's episode where she was told that her boy may "never live" with her again. The mother was all smiles when the social worker showed up to chat about Lucas, but the conversation quickly turned to her son's future living arrangements - and they didn't seem to involve Dawn. https://twitter.com/emmerdale/status/1092502046849273857

"There's something I need to tell you about Lucas," said the social worker. "I need to talk to you about his long term future."

"It's great that you're doing better now but we have to do what is best for Lucas. I'm very sorry Dawn, despite all our best efforts, we were unable to find you so we had to make a decision about what to do in his best interests.

"We're looking to get a placement order. We're looking to have Lucas adopted."

Dawn, visibly shaken, is only told what can be done about the situation towards the end of the conversation. After continuing to berate the mother for a few more moments, she eventually tells her that she can appeal the decision in court.

"I'm sorry but you didn't contact us for months and Lucas needs a stable environment," the social worker said. 

"I understand this is upsetting but we didn't know if you were alive or dead. It's good that you're in a better place now but we need to do what's best for Lucas."
