It was brilliant.
Well, this specific part was brilliant… the rest, not so much.
The final debate of the presidential election took place on RTÉ’s Prime Time last night, with most of the talking points being about jets, taxes and the travelling community.
With much of the debate focusing on Mickey D travelling on the state jet, many people took to Twitter to say they wouldn’t care if he took the jet to go down to Tesco… they rather have him as President than the other candidates.
However, there was one part of the debate that everyone absolutely loved, and that was when Michael D. Higgins and Liadh Ní Riada broke out in debate as Gaeilge.

My favourite part of the #RTEPT #Aras18 debate so far was when Michael D and Liadh Ní Riada went off at each other as gaeilge and none of the other candidates had a clue what they were talking about.

Loved watching Ni Riadha go for the ole reliable “as gaeilge” right hook. MDH came back at her like Ali. The rest of the candidates hadn’t a clue #rtept

That outburst of Gaeilge would have been even better with a Jim Ross reaction shot #aras18 #rtept pic.twitter.com/iyg2f4Gjav

Best bit of that was the rírá and the ruaille buaille and the trioblóid as Gaeilge between Higgins and Ní Riada.
The rest? Exhausting. #RTEPT
