The Vanishing Triangle series coming to Virgin Media this year

Ellen Fitzpatrick

So much true crime…

More TV shows and documentaries are coming to Virgin Media than ever before, and in the upcoming season and new schedule, there is a whole load of true crime coming our way.

Brand new series The Vanishing Triangle is coming to the channel, co-produced by Virgin Media Television and The Sundance Channel in the US. The six part series is inspired by the events occurring in the 1990s when a number of women in and around Dublin went missing without a trace.

These women have been looked for since but with no clues or evidence, there has been little justice in these cases, and this drama series goes into detail on them.

A Dublin Murder is a two-part series that investigates the murder of 30-year-old, Rachel O’Reilly. The mother of two from Dublin was killed by her husband Joe O’Reilly in the Naul in 2004.

Another true crime series coming to Virgin Media is Six Bullets Fired which will take a look into the death of George Nkencho who was shot by six Gardaí in West Dublin in 2020.

The Fall of Bomber Kavanagh takes a look into the story of Thomas ‘Bomber’ Kavanagh who was jailed for 21 years after his criminal past with the Kinahan gang was uncovered.

Another crime series on the way is a documentary on Graham Dwyer who is serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife Elaine O’Hara.

When it comes to some more light hearted pieces, there is the return of some of our favourites.

Love Island is returning for two more seasons, with a winter show coming in January. Gogglebox returned last night with new episodes each Wednesday. The Masked Singer, The Voice, The Graham Norton Show, Dancing on Ice and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here are all returning yet again this year.

A documentary entitled Garth Brooks: Coming Home is set to hit our screens in September as it explores the country’s fascination with the singer ahead of his five nights in Croke Park.

A whole load of drama is also set to appear on Virgin Media this season with the brand-new four-part series Ridley starring Adrian Dunbar coming which follows a retired detective returning to the field to uncover a murder case.

Trigger Point airs tonight starring another Line of Duty star, Vicky McClure as a bomb disposal expert in London.

True life drama The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe starts in October telling the story of fraudsters Anne and John Darwin who faked his own death to claim insurance money.

The Suspect stars Aidan Turner as psychologist turned murder suspect Dr. Joseph O’Loughlin.

Witness No. 3 stars Clare Dunne and David Crowley which follows single mum Jodie, whose life is turned upside down when she inadvertently becomes a major player in a murder trial.
