The family of Love Island’s Mike Boateng have released a statement regarding “false stories” that have emerged.

In a social media post shared last night, they say these stories are in relation to the period of time he spent working for Greater Manchester Police.

His family have not elaborated on the nature of the reports and say that Mike showed nothing but “dedication” to the force, they say they are disappointed by the force’s decision not to deny the speculation.

An excerpt from the statement, shared on Instagram and Twitter, reads:

“Greater Manchester Police have unfortunately chosen not to deny any of the false stories, which shall be released over the next few days. They had previously agreed with us that they would not comment to the press, which is why no stories have been released to date. ‘GMP have now changed their stance and are releasing a blanket statement which does not outright deny the stories which shall be published”.

According to The Sun, Mike was accused of “inappropriate behaviour” and is the subject of an ongoing probe. ITV has not yet commented on the reports.

His family say he left the police force after filming introductory videos for Love Island. Mike is currently coupled up with Leanne Amaning with the duo proving popular with viewers in recent days.
