Over the years, Grey's Anatomy has had its fair share of new doctors scrubbing in at Grey Sloan Memorial. But the latest arrival, Dr. Cormac Hayes, has fans of the long-running medical drama "swooning." And it looks like the arrival of the character, played by Red Rock actor Richard Flood, is all down to Cristina Yang. The latest episode began with Meredith back at Grey Sloan, and her 'person' Cristina sending her a congratulatory present all the way from Switzerland. Throughout the hour, Mer understandably assumes that the package in question is actually...well, an object. And it never seems to arrive. However, it turns out Cristina's present is actually Dr. Hayes, the Chief of Paediatric Surgery at Grey Sloan. Meredith finds this out after the pair have a tense confrontation in one of the hospital's elevators, after they clashed while they worked on a case together. Cristina texts her to ask if she got her present yet, and as Dr. Hayes walks into the elevator, Meredith tells her she hasn't. "So, is your thing to terrify them for no reason and then bask in the relief?" she asks Hayes, who turns to explain his blunt approach towards patients. "I'm not interested in trying to guess what people want to hear. I prefer to give them all the information and let them figure out how to deal with it," he tells Meredith. "My wife's doctors didn't pay me that respect before she died." "Listen, Grey, this is your house. But someone gave me a key - so maybe it is best if we learn how to live together," he continues, as he walks off the elevator. "Welcome back, Dr. Grey. I can see why you were missed." Meanwhile, Cristina's texts are seen flashing up on screen: the present wasn't an 'it', it was a 'him'. "McWidow," she texts the newly-single Meredith, followed by three shamrock emojis. And then the camera pans to DeLuca, who seems to be realising that maybe he shouldn't have told Meredith to take some time... Following Dr. Hayes' debut on Thursday night, fans have been taking to social media to share their love for the latest addition to Grey's.  "I already love McWidow," one fan wrote, while another said, "Congratulations, it is already obvious you will be an amazing addition to the show!" "Grey’s Anatomy has me falling for an Irish man," someone else commented, and another asked, "So do we instantly love Cormac Hayes and ship him with Mer solely because Christina sent him?" "It sounded like this new doctor on greys had an Irish accent and I’m swooning already," another fan said.
