Legendary director Mike Nichols has passed away at the age of 83.
According to reports, ABC News President James Goldston broke the news and said that he died from a cardiac arrest on Wednesday evening.
Nichols was best known for directing The Graduate, starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft, which became a classic in the world of film and earned him an Oscar.
He was one of only 12 people to win all four major entertainment awards in the US having taken home an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony during his career.
Nichols was married to news presenter Diane Sawyer. She was his fourth wife and they tied the knot back in 1988.
