The first trailer of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s terrifying movie is here

It's the real-life couple's movie A Quiet Place.

Silence is survival.

Anyone who has ever seen a horror movie (so, that should be most of you) will know how effective silence can be.

Silence is a very cheap and very simple way to build suspense, because we know that if it is quiet right now, that means that it is about to get very loud.

New horror movie A Quiet Place builds on that idea, but having the protagonists exist in a world where silence is a necessity to survive.

Real life husband and wife John Krasinski (who also wrote and directed the movie) and Emily Blunt play parents to two young children, living a mostly idyllic and entire silent life in the middle of the woods.

We see hints as to why they’ve been forced to live this way – there’s marked out footpaths, and that ominous clawed slash on the staircase – until one of the kids accidentally knocks something over, and we’re given glimpses of all hell breaking loose.

The actual plot of the movie is still underwraps right now, so we don’t know exactly what the creature is, and if it is something that destroyed the world as we know it, or is solely focusing on this family in the woods, and we can’t wait to find out.

Oh, and to absolutely scream our heads off in terror.

A Quiet Place is due for release in Ireland and the UK on 4 May 2018.
