Game of Thrones fans notice a continuity error in the first episode of season 8

Oops.

After an almost two-year-long wait, the final season of Game of Thrones returned to our telly screens this week.

And while many fans couldn’t stop talking about the series’ opening sequence (and even the brand new opening credits), there was another scene early on that got fans talking for a different reason.

Eagle-eyed Game of Thrones fans noticed a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it error involving Daenerys Targaryen as she arrived at the ancestral home of House Stark.

Namely, that she was wearing completely different wigs in the scene where she was getting ready to meet Jon Snow’s family for the first time.

One Twitter user pointed out that the Mother of Dragons is first seen with her braids criss-crossing on the back of her head – only for them to look entirely different just moments later.

Many fans said that they couldn’t help but notice the error, now that it had been pointed out.

One person said:

“You’re entirely right! Whhhyyy?!?! How could no one notice that?! It’s literally a second later. I thought perhaps on and off the horse they spruced her up? Nope.”

Someone else wrote:

“I have a feeling this is going to cause me to spend too much time checking out her wigs for the rest of the season.”

Another added:

“That’s gonna bug me now. Nice spot.”

One fan, though, was quick to offer an explanation for it all.

They said:

“Like ya’ll never had to stop to fix your hair and re-pin it when it started falling apart.”

Makes sense to us.

The news comes after director David Nutter warned that there’s a scene as brutal as the Red Wedding in season 8 – you can read more about that here.

  • Game of Thrones S8 continues on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on Monday April 22 at 2am & 9pm.
