Game of Thrones took some fairly extreme steps to prevent any set leaks while filming

‘Self-destructing’ scripts, filming multiple “fake” scenes and just lots and lots of security.

There’s been no shortage of ways that Game of Thrones have tried to keep the secrets of next season…well, secret.

The HBO series is due to return for its eighth and final season, made up of six episodes, some time next year.

And while many fans had been hoping for some hints at what they can expect – since it’ll have been more than a year between seasons – the set spoilers that did leak involved some grainy-looking photos that may or may not have been legit.

We still refuse to accept the ‘big’ leaked spoiler, to be honest.

Anyways, it has now emerged that HBO took another big step to try and keep the massive plot holes from getting out early.

According to Entertainment Weeklythey implemented a ‘drone killer” to keep away any aerial cameras that may’ve been snooping on the set.

Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark in the series, mentioned the news during her appearance at New York Comic Con recently.

She said:

“If a drone flies above sets, there’s a thing that can kill the drones, which is really cool.

“It creates a field around it and the drones just drop. It’s very X-Men.”

The actress also briefly spoke about her character’s arc on the upcoming season, explaining how Sansa really “comes into her own”.

She added:

“It’s a whole new series for her. She’s been kind of lost.

“She doesn’t know who she wants to be or who wants to surround herself with. This season, she is very self-assured.”
