Josh Schwartz has revealed something important about one couple on the show which could’ve changed the show entirely.

Aside from Sex and the City, there’s no other show that made us fall in love with New York City than Gossip Girl.

The teen drama followed the lives of the wealthy youth living on the Upper East Side, including their love lives, job prospects and most importantly the evasion of the dreaded Gossip Girl finding out their secrets.

We watched the ins and outs of relationships between characters such as Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Dan Humphrey, Nate Archibald, Chuck Bass, Vanessa Abrams and Jenny Humphrey as they navigated their way through a privileged adolescence and their complicated love lives.

One couple’s love story who had us totally enthralled was Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass, however according to this news, the pair were never supposed to even be matched.

Speaking to Vulture, Gossip Girl co-writer Josh Schwartz opened up about the relationship between Chuck and Blair that was never planned, but rather happened by chance.

“None of that was expected…Chuck came into the show as the villain.

“But it’s one of those great, fun things about making a television series — it’s an evolving, living, breathing thing, and things can easily change on a whim.”

It was only upon seeing the electric chemistry between Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick that the writers decided to create the iconic relationship.

“That love story between those two characters was always one of the overarching stories of the whole show, and we knew that. As far as we pushed them, we always had to be able to find a way to bring them back together.”

Could you imagine an episode of Gossip Girl without Chuck and Blair? I sure can’t.
