Grey's Anatomy have released a heartbreaking trailer for Dr. Alex Karev's goodbye episode.

In January, Justin Chambers - who has played Dr. Alex Karev for 15 years - announced he would be leaving Grey's Anatomy. At the time, it is was said that his final episode had already aired. Since his announcement, Grey's fans have been wondering how the show would address his departure - you can read our thoughts on how they may do that here. He's been away from Grey Sloan Memorial for the last few episodes, seemingly dealing with family issues back home - but it looks like fans won't have much longer to wait to find out the truth of Alex's exit. Grey's Anatomy have released a heartbreaking trailer for Dr. Alex Karev's goodbye episode - which is set to  air very soon. "After 16 seasons, we're saying goodbye to Dr. Alex Karev. See how his story ends next Thursday on Grey's Anatomy," they captioned the clip, which showed some of Alex's biggest moments from over the last 15 years.

Justin Chambers left Grey's Anatomy fans stunned when he announced he was leaving the show in early January. “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years,” he said in a statement to PEOPLE  at the time. “For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.”
