Coronation Street has been on screens for over 50 years and is known and loved for its long-standing cast.

Now beloved actor Jack P Shepherd, who has played David Platt for almost two decades, has hinted that he could be next to exit the soap.

David has been involved in some seriously dramatic plot lines since first appearing 18 years ago.

Jack most recently won praise for how he portrayed David dealing with being sexually assaulted earlier this year.

In a recent interview with Corrie fan blog Coronation Street Updates, Jack brought up the idea of David leaving the cobbles as “every single storyline” of his has been explored.

“I’ve been in the show for 18 years now and played every single storyline you could possibly play,” he said.

“Ultimately in soaps I think if it does change the character then you must see what you want from the character. Do you want David Platt to change and if so why? If he does change, does he eventually have to leave?

“After a while the character must come to terms with what has happened to them and move on, then you can live out other stories.”

We’d be devastated to see the back of David Platt and so we’ve our fingers crossed that he’s not going anywhere.

A rep for Jack has downplayed the actor’s comments, telling The Sun that he “isn’t leaving.”

Suppose we’ll just have to watch this space.
