Ben Affleck may have been snubbed by the Oscars but we have a feeling that at the end of the award season he’s going to be the one with a huge smile on his face as he picked up another two awards at the weekend.
Argo did it again for the 40-year-old star who took home two BAFTAS for Best Film and Best Director last night.
Affleck has had a great run throughout this year's award season.
On accepting his second prize, Affleck said: “Every single person here who is part of BAFTA, who has welcomed us and been so kind to us and who clearly has no need to.
“When I was talking to someone in the studio they were like ‘you know what, we never win’ so this has been an incredible, wonderful, warm surprise… so thank you!”
Anne Hathaway was named Best Supporting Actress in London last night.
But as with all award ceremonies, there were many victorious stars celebrating in London including Emmanuelle Riva who beat Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain in the Best Actress category for her role in Amour.
Lincoln’s Daniel Day Lewis took home the prize for Best Actor while Christoph Waltz was named Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained which also brought Quentin Tarantino the Best Original Screenplay award.
Django Unchained earned Tarantino an award for Best Original Screenplay.
Anne Hathaway was left fighting back the tears when she accepted the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA for her performance in Les Misérables.
Other winners on the night included Skyfall (Best British Film), Brave (Animated Film) and Silver Linings Playbook’s David O. Russell (Best Adapted Screenplay). Evita director Alan Parker was honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship.
