Iain Stirling reveals how the Love Island contestants reacted when they got their phones back

Tbh, we totally understand.

While we don’t like to admit it, we’re basically lost without our phones. Between trying to contact our friends and family, using Google Maps to find our way around a city and having the Internet for basically anything – we need them.

Ok, not need. But we very much like them being on us 24/7. Sad, but true.

While the Love Island contestants all had phones in the villa, the phones weren’t actually their own and instead were given to them by production – with their own phones taken off them.

So, it safe to say that when they received them after the show was over, they pretty much got lost in them. Just IMAGINE all the notifications.

Iain Stirling, who was the voice over for the show, was there to witness the contestants getting their phones back, and chatting on ITV’s Lorraine yesterday, he said:

“They get their phone back in like a plastic pouch, it’s like they’ve just come out of prison.”

“Eight weeks, some of them have gone from no followers on social media to a million… their phones just went ‘beeeeeeeeep’.”

“Just watching these kids trying to get their head around the fact the world was on the phone.

“In their defence they were very lovely and made a real effort and spoke to everyone and got their photos taken with me – I was going around like a fanboy.

“If I’d just got my phone back and had a million followers on Instagram I wouldn’t speak to anyone. I’d be like, ‘See you later losers, I’m off to do some teeth whitening ads’.”

Oh Iain, never change.
