Matt is proving popular as the first choice to do unpopular things

Matt Hancock continues to be a favourite on I’m A Celebrity… as he was selected for third task in as many days on Thursday night alongside Boy George.

The MP’s selection came as no surprise to viewers – many had hoped before he entered the show that he would have to do all the worst challenges and tasks – but many were saying the same thing afterwards.

The former health secretary was reeling as his name was called out by hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, while Boy George also seemed to be fearing the worst. The pair have to take on the dreaded eating challenge – and Twitter loved it.

Fans had branded the previous challenge ” boring”, but given Boy George has made his feelings about Hancock pretty clear in recent days, they thought the pair taking on the stomach churning challenge together would be “TV gold”.

One viewer said: “Matt and Boy George doing that eating trail is going to be comedy gold.”

Another agreed: “This is going to be awkward, tense, gold.” A third viewer tweeted: “Ooooo Matt and boy George BOTH doing a trial together might be tv gold honestly.”

Hancock’s arrival on the show sparked suggestions it could lead lead to a mass walk out.

And, on Wednesday, Boy George confessed he was considering leaving the jungle, with one campmate doing her best to stop him.

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, he said: “I don’t really know what to do with my feelings. You know, today was obviously quite emotional for me. “I don’t know what it’s going to be like, I actually don’t really know if I want to be here.”

Sue Cleaver encouraged him to stay, while also sharing her thoughts on the matter. “Just sleep on it tonight. Look, why he came in and what he’s doing here, it’s not our responsibility and it’s not for us to take on,” she said.

Sue later said in the Bush Telegraph: “George was having a bit of a moment. I think if I’m honest that most of us are sort of feeling it’s a bit of a very strange situation to be in.”

Earlier, Boy George had told how his mother was seriously ill in hospital during the pandemic, and indicated he felt uncomfortable “sitting here having fun” with Hancock. He added: “I don’t want to spoil this experience for myself,” he added. “I’m not good at hiding what I feel. Especially when it’s something so strong.”
