The Late Late Show returns for season number 59 (59!) tomorrow night.
The evenings are shorter, schools have returned and The Late Late Show is back on our screens on Friday nights. Summer – if you could call what we had a ‘summer’ – is now very much in the rear-view mirror.
There is a certain comfort in knowing that you can curl up on the couch and tune into the Late Late for over three hours of a Friday and Ryan Tubridy returns with a stellar line-up for its return tomorrow night.
GAA legend Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, and acting Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn take top billing, with Glynn set to give an insight into where he believes Ireland now lies in terms of the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, and what lies ahead.
Also on the line-up for tomorrow night are cousins Ellen Glynn and Sara Feeney, who miraculously survived a night at sea last month after their paddleboards drifted from the shore in Galway. On the show, Ellen and Sara will be reunited with the locals who saved their lives, fisherman Patrick Oliver and his son Morgan, who will discuss the vital work of the RNLI in Ireland.
Dr Samar Fatima Ali will chat to Ryan about the devastating loss her family experienced when her father, Dr Syed Waqqar Ali, a frontline doctor in the Mater Hospital, died after contracting Covid-19 during the summer.
And on a weekend when thousands of revellers would usually be in Stradbally at Electric Picnic, there will be musical performances from Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, The Frank and Walters and Irish Women in Harmony, whose cover of ‘Dreams’ by The Cranberries, in aid of Safe Ireland, recently topped the Irish charts.
The Late Late Show airs on RTÉ One tomorrow night at 9.35pm.
