It looks like Big Brother may be coming back (and in an unexpected way)

Intriguing.

Big Brother fans were left heartbroken last month when it was announced that Channel 5 would not be renewing the series.

The network confirmed that this series will be the last – of the celebrity or civilian versions – on the station.

ITV had been rumoured to snap up the show, but a spokesperson later said that they had “no current intention” to pick up the reality TV series.

Both Sky and Channel 4 have also ruled themselves out of saving the long-running reality TV series.

According to new reports, though, Netflix may be the ones to save the day for Big Brother fans.

Endemol, the folks who own the format of the programme, are said to be sitting down with bosses at the streaming service to try and strike a deal.

A source told The Sun that while “it’s still all early days”, it is an option that they are looking at.

They said:

“Netflix could be the saviours of Big Brother — the news fans have wanted to hear since Channel 5 made the announcement.

“Executives at Endemol are meeting with Netflix early next week.

“Of course it’s still early days.

“Streaming sites have a lot of money so it’s an option they’re looking at.”

The news comes after it was confirmed that Netflix commissioned two seasons of Channel 4’s The Circle.
