It looks like Hamilton is going to be heading to movie theatres (but not how we thought)

They’re not throwing away their shot.

Hamilton, the smash-hit musical, is reportedly set to be heading to the big screen – although we may be waiting awhile.

The show is based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Father’s of the United States – and has become one of the most sought-after shows on Broadway, as well as the West End.

According to the Wall Street Journal, it’s not going to be a film adaptation of the stage show – but rather a recording of the 2016 stage show with the original cast, including Lin Manuel-Miranda.

The current price is somewhere in the range of €42,710,000 ($50,000,000 USD) although it is expected to go higher.

And, unfortunately, it looks like we may be waiting awhile to actually see it.

The publication notes that it is unlikely to be released for another two years – until 2020.

This is most likely due to the fact that keep wanting to sell tickets to the stage shows.

Still, though. It’s definitely good news.

Hamilton is based on the 2004 biography of the Founding Father written by Ron Chernow.

It originally opened on Broadway in 2015, and has won 11 Tonys and the 2016 Pulitzer prize for drama.

The West End version won seven Oliviers earlier this year.
