The duo will say goodbye to their precious tresses for a very good cause.

Ireland’s favourite double act are all set to join the couch this Friday night for a very special edition of The Late Late Show.

John and Edward are among guests joining Ryan Tubridy to help raise some much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Typically, this vital charity relies on Daffodil Day for the bulk of their donations. However, with Covid-19 restrictions in place, we can’t celebrate Daffodil Day the way we normally do.

Instead, Jedward have bravely pledged to shave their iconic hairstyles live on national TV in this special show dedicated to the Irish Cancer Society.

In a statement, John and Edward spoke about the importance of the cause.

“We are shaving our quiffs off to support the fighting heroes going through cancer,” they said. “We’re hopeful the funds raised will contribute to a cancer free future.”

They continued: “We are honouring the memory of all those who have come and gone, we are sending strength and love to all those suffering.”

“Don’t give up!” they added. “It’s heart-breaking that all our loved ones aren’t with us, but they will be looking down on us from heaven.”

Jedward are no strangers to the horrors of cancer. In February 2019, the twins lost their mother, Susanna, after a long battle with cancer.

After her death, Jedwad paid a touching tribute to their late mother on Twitter.

“Rest in peace mammy,” they wrote. “You live on though us. We’ll miss you and your smile. You shaped the character of who we are. Mammy lived with cancer for many years but was always full of life.”

The added: “You live in our Memories and will always be alive in our hearts.”

The Late Late Show will air this Friday evening on RTE One at 9:35 PM.
