Iconic.

The 2009 Late Late Toy Show will forever be the one where little John Joe Brennan, the boy who wanted to be a “horologist” stole the show.

The eight-year-old won over our hearts when he announced his love for clocks on the show in an interview with Ryan Tubrity.

But it’s far from Roscommon that John Joe Brennan is now, as the 17-year-old is living in Paris as a student and his love for clocks looks stronger than ever.

In an interview with the Irish Independent, John Joe’s parents, Neil Gurry and Karen Brennan spoke about their incredible careers in fashion and graphic design as well as the sensational hit that is their son, John Joe.

“We didn’t think anything of it. And then the next day, on the internet, it was, you know, ‘I want John Joe to fix my clock’. He had more hits on The Late Late Show site than Tom Cruise” revealed his father.

John Joe is now studying for his baccalaureat and his clock fixation is stronger than ever. The 17-year-old is also bilingual speaking as fluent in French as English with his father adding that although he’s an Irish kid when he’s in the house with his parents, “he’s a French kid like the other French kids” when he’s out and about.

But alas if you had hopes for John Joe to be one day fixing your clock, I’m afraid he wants to be an auctioneer. Either way, it’s a bright future this one has.
