Some lad re-edited the new Star Wars film and removed all the women

It's 46 minutes long.

Well, someone has a lot of free time on their hands…

If the past few years have been good for anything, it’s been the surge of female-dominated films that have graced our cinema screens.

Ghostbusters, Oceans 8, Jurrasic Park, and Arrival are just a few movies that blew audiences away, or are expected to in the coming year.

One franchise that was also highly praised for its focus on female strength and representation was Star Wars.

In 2015, The Force Awakens saw Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, take it upon herself to hang around with the Resistance for a bit and have a bit of a look for the elusive Luke Skywalker.

And this year, much to the delight of many, Rey returned in The Last Jedi.

That being said, clearly not everybody was too happy about another Star Wars movie featuring another pesky female lead.

Those people are called male chauvinists and they live on Reddit.

No, really. They do.

Someone decided to out of one these guys during the week by announcing that they had found a re-edit of the latest Star Wars movie that had removed all of the women.

Apparently discovered on an illegal movie downloading site, it was called the ‘de-feminised fan edit (aka, the Chauvinist Cut).’

Right.

The description went a little something like this:

“Basically The Last Jedi minus Girlz Powah and other silly stuff.

“It would probably be easier to make a list of things that were kept instead of things that were changed. Hardly any scene got away without cuts.

“The resulting movie is (wait for it …) 46 minutes long. Yeah I know, it’s not ideal.”

Not really, to be honest.

The description went on to say exactly what was removed from the film (all the women) and what was left (a pretty cool manly movie for men, right?!)

“For what it’s worth, it can now at least be viewed without feeling nauseous about most of the terrible big and small decisions they made in this film.

“Also, at least the intro sequence is now very watchable and actually much cooler without all of Leia’s nitpicking.”

First of all, how dare this guy disrespect Carrie Fisher like that.

And second of all, please man, get a job.

It wasn’t long before word of this re-edit made it to Twitter where it was picked up by none other than Mark Hamill, John Boyega, and director Rian Johnson themselves.

Just beautiful.
