Late Late Toy Show’s Adam King to release his very own Christmas book

The book is inspired by Adam’s real life adventures.

Late Late Toy Show star Adam King is set to release a new book titled A Hug For You this Christmas.

Adam captured the hearts of the nation when he appeared on the show with his “virtual hug” card in December 2020.

The seven-year-old, who has a rare brittle bone disorder, raised over €266,000 for Temple Street Children’s University Hospital Health Foundation and Cork University Hospital Charity through the sale of his Virtual Hugs Valentine’s Day cards earlier this year.

A Hug For You is inspired by Adam’s real life adventures and has already been shortlisted for an Irish Book Award.

The title of the book comes from Adam’s virtual hug heart-shaped sign that he held when he appeared on the Toy Show.

It is written by his father, David King, who has previously written a children’s book called ‘But Really… Adventures with a Difference’.

Adam has impacted people worldwide since his TV appearance and even received a letter from United States of America President Joe Biden, who praised him for introducing his virtual hugs idea to people during the pandemic.

His dreams to work for NASA and go into outer space were recognised by retired astronaut Chris Hadfield, who said he was massively impressed by him.

“The way that you spoke, the way that you treated everybody around you, the way that you showed us the things that you are dreaming of, I found it really inspiring,” he said.

A cartoon series inspired by the youngster, called Adam Loves Adventure, was announced earlier this year. The animated series is set in space and features a wheelchair user as its main character.

Adam will be joined by his family on 9 November for the launch of the book in the River Lee Hotel in Cork. He will also make another appearance on the Late Late Show on Friday night.
